We're obsessed. Innovative golf gadgets are always something to be on the look out for. Not only are they fun, but they may also be able to help you score!
The information about golf tech gadgets and gear is sparse to say the least. But there are some fantastic innovations out there. Most of them have something to do with golf training. After all, what technology can you really use on the course? But I have seen some pretty cool gadgetry like special golf ball finding glasses. These things filter out most of the spectrum of visible light except the color of the ball. So you shank one into the woods, put on your James Bond ball glasses and it jumps out at you.
Then there's slightly more credible ballFinder Scout, which scans ground area 600 square feet at a time and identifies the color spectrum signature of your missing golf ball. When it finds a match, it’ll show you on a little screen exactly where your ball is. This one get’s our special recommendation for “golf gift for the golfer who has everything.”
Other innovations for golfers and tech gadgets mostly center around range finders and golf training aids. There are swing speed monitors like the Medicus Power Meter. It works by setting the device in front of your club during practive (or even while you’re playing) and it captures the club head speed. While this is useful, club head speed alone doesn’t mean much – you still need someone who knows what they’re doing to interpret your swing and make adjustments accordingly. Then you need to get out there and practice the adjustments to your swing!
