Bridgestone e6 Golf Balls

There’s been a growing buzz about Bridgestone Golf Balls for a couple of years now, especially after they released the Bridgestone e6 a few years ago.  So about a month ago I went through Bridgestone’s ball fitting system and was amazed at the results! I’ve been playing Titleist my entire life. I frequently surrender to the temptation to play the ball that everyone else plays. Usually I go right back to my go-to balls, the Pro V1x. Well, Titleist may make the best golf balls on the market today but I can guarantee you one thing – the gap is closing.

Companies like Bridgestone Golf, Srixon, Callaway & TaylorMade are getting more and more competitive.

I stopped by a local shop and Bridgestone happened to be there with their new ball fitting system. They had a sleeve of just about every golfball imaginable and encouraged me to choose the ball I thought was best for me. Then the testing began. I hit ball after ball while the two techs monitored every single shot on a high tech computer. They monitored everything from ball speed, spin, launch angle and total carry & distance.

I was amazed to see that the ball which I have been playing was so wrong for me.

A simple change to the correct ball lowered the spin rate off my driver from an average of 3700 rpm down to 2500 rpm. I launched the new ball higher and my spin rate was lower resulting in a much longer average drive. By the way, the new ball was the Bridgestone e6. I have played it for nearly 10 rounds now and find the ball to be longer and softer then the PRO V1.

A big difference for me is that my short iron approach shots are no longer spinning back so much, which was costing me shots on fast sloped greens. The best part was the lower cost of $25! No more shelling out 45 bucks a dozen for the PRO V1X!! Guess it goes to show that all balls are definitely not created equal.
